Week 6
Virtual and augmented reality is certainly something that gets consumers hyped, despite the fact that both VR and AR are both in very primitive stages right now. Beyond that, it still has companies scrambling to be the first on the scene in either field with the next big thing, but the truth of the matter is that we are nowhere near where we'd need to be technologically, culturally, or for that matter, (collectively) mentally to really implement VR/AR into our lives.
While Professor Kelsey presents a fair point in that Pokemon Go! has been possibly the sole successful foray into VR/AR, one can collect clear evidence that Pokemon Go! was just a fad, and that the longevity of AR/VR has yet to be achieved. Pokemon Go! lost 80% of its active players since it's peak active user level, and pretty much died out as fast as it burst onto the scene. only time will tell if/when/how VR/AR will be a part of the consumer world and the business world
